Steve Wiland, LMSW
Steve Wiland has 29 years of experience working with numerous clinically complex populations, including individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, individuals with personality disorders, trauma survivors, juvenile offenders, and County jail inmates. He is a Licensed Master’s-trained Social Worker (LMSW) with both Clinical and Macro Specialties, as well as a MCBAP-Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, with the additional IC&RC designation as an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC). Steve earned Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Economics from Michigan State University, and an MSW degree from Eastern Michigan University.

Steve has served in numerous capacities over the course of his career, for organizations including Washtenaw County Community Mental Health, the State of Michigan’s Department of Community Health, the Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority, Foundations Recovery Network, and Personalized Nursing LIGHT House in roles ranging from Case Manager to Therapist to Supervisor/Manager to Clinical Practices Administrator/Deputy Chief Clinical Officer. His professional experience includes direct service provision, program development & implementation, staff training, and grantsmanship, with experience in both the public and private sectors of Behavioral Health service delivery. Steve currently serves as the Director of the University of Michigan’s Addiction Certificate Program (https://ssw.umich.edu/programs/continuing-education/certificate-courses/addictions-certificate), as well as teaching part-time for U-M’s School of Social Work, and providing some limited private practice counseling. He is a popular conference speaker and trainer, and the purveyor of the resource-rich Integrated Recovery website (www.integratedrecovery.org). Steve’s own lived experience of dual recovery has been a core element informing his clinical practice and teaching work.
