Brian Laba LLPC
I came into counseling after spending almost twenty years involved in campus ministry through an organization called University Christian Outreach. I mainly worked in Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids MI, but also had a chance to serve one year in Belfast Northern Ireland. During my time working with college students the one on one meetings sharing about life’s challenges and triumphs were both highlights and the sphere where I saw the greatest contribution. Studying counseling and pursuing a career in the field was a natural of extension of my experience of fruitfulness and desire to walk with people through the ups and downs of life. I firmly believe in the capacity for healing and growth in all of us and have experienced counseling as a means of fostering that.

I have worked with a wide variety of concerns for individuals - including anxiety, depression, relational struggles, loss, compulsive behaviors, and adjustment issues. My basic framework is Integrative Psychotherapy, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, insight centered counseling, and Christian belief. I have a distinct interest in college students and their concerns and men’s issues, but am glad to work with any adults.
I am a member of a missionary brotherhood called the Servants of the Word and am active in my church. I appreciate a good book, the beauty of nature, cooking, and the chance to spend time with people.
